The William Ashley  Brand was founded in 1947 and it is amongst the largest and most prestigious Tableware retailers in the world, carrying premier brands such as Waterford, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton as well as other famous brands from throughout the world.  It was the first Canadian company to provide a computerized bridal registry.  The company currently operates its flagship store in the Manulife Centre at 55 Bloor St. in Toronto.  In addition, the company hosts an annual Warehouse Sale that is amongst the most popular shopping events in Toronto, currently in its 39th year of operation.  The company is in the process of launching a new website and has many other exciting new initiatives to revitalize the Brand and to expand its product selection to make it relevant to today’s consumer.

Job Description

William Ashley is undergoing exciting improvements to its internal processes.  In addition they  launched a new web site in Q4 2014 using a Magento Platform ( eBay ).  The co-op student  will gain significant experience with  working on data management in SQL and Excel and assist in providing critical information flows for  management and other users, as well as web development tools.

Principal Responsibilities

The co-op student will be given specific projects that will be presented to the President at the end of the coop period.

Qualifications for Position

  • Independent worker with strong analytical skills; proficient in Excel a must, SQL a benefit.
  • Flexible in a fast past, multi project workplace
  • Interested in Web presence and social media

Other skills that would be an asset and/or the student would gain exposure:

HTML5, CSS, FTP
Photoshop.
